Larchmont Village located in the heart of Hancock Park is located just to the south of Hollywood, California. Near Koreatown and the La Brea/Beverly-Grove areas, it offers a unique small town feeling of a local American village similar to areas in Pasadena or Brentwood. The main street shopping district in Larchmont Village has moved decidedly more upscale in the past 10-years. Street improvements of vegetative medians marking the entry to the village, improved diagonal parking and the slow replacement of the general store and granny’s dress shops with upscale boutiques catering to sneaker aficionados or comfortable hip casual wear and a growing assortment of eateries, coffee shops, restaurants and dessert choices makes Larchmont Village a delightful place at any hour of the day. The Larchmont Village Association tried to keep chain retailers off of the street but certain food establishments have won out. You can find Starbucks, Peets, Coffee Bean, Crumbs Bakery, Louise’s, Noah’s Bagels, Baskin Robbins, Rite Aid and even Le Pain Quotidien on the avenue, but don’t miss the local favorites of Village Pizzeria, Sam’s Bagel’s, Larchmont Deli (on Beverly Blvd.) the Larchmont Bungalow, Girasole and the Larchmont Village Wine Spirits and Cheese shop. Also, on Sunday there is a wonderful locally grown Farmer’s Market that draws fresh foodies from as far as Los Feliz toward the east to West Hollywood, Miracle Mile and Wilshire Vista to the west. And when you make it, do try the roasted chickens, spicy tortilla chips and the musical entertainment for the children. There are many other restaurants nearby on and off of Melrose which are just a quick jaunt from the village. Try Wild Oats Cafe for yummy casual eats or Osteria La Buca for fine Italian dining and of course Lucy’s El Adobe Cafe for classic Ameri-Mexican food.
